Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 March 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rationalize Life applications for Android and iOS and the related services, including cloud synchronization via the rationalize.me service (collectively, the "Service").
By installing, accessing, or using the Service on any platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if higher, to use the Service.
- By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.
2. Description of the Service
Rationalize Life is a strategic life‑planning and goal‑tracking system that lets you create and organize goals, projects, tasks, and schedules, view calendars and progress, and review your achievements over time on Android, iOS, and other supported platforms.
The Service may include features such as offline planning, cloud synchronization via rationalize.me, recurring tasks, reminders, analytics views, and cross‑device access.
3. Accounts, Platforms, and Cloud Sync
3.1. Local device use
- You may use Rationalize Life locally on your device without creating a rationalize.me account.
- In local mode, your planning data is stored only on your device, subject to your device’s backup, encryption, and security settings.
3.2. rationalize.me account and cross‑platform sync
- To enable cloud sync between multiple devices (for example, Android phone, iPhone, iPad, Mac, or web), you can create or sign in to a rationalize.me account.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- You should promptly notify us of any suspected unauthorized use or security breach.
3.3. Account termination
- You can stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your rationalize.me account as described in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or violate applicable law.
4. User Content and Ownership
"User Content" means all data you input into the Service, including goals, projects, tasks, notes, tags, schedules, and any other planning content.
- You retain ownership of your User Content; we do not claim proprietary rights over it.
- You grant us a limited, non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to host, store, process, and transmit User Content only as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service (including sync, backups, and analytics related to feature usage).
- You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content complies with applicable law and does not include illegal, infringing, or harmful material.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in any unlawful way or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or our servers or networks.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, except where allowed by mandatory law.
- Use automated tools (including bots or scrapers) to access or overload the Service.
We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate measures, including suspension or termination of access.
6. Third‑Party Services
The Service uses and interacts with third‑party services, including but not limited to:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and related SDKs) for usage analytics and diagnostics on Android and iOS.
- rationalize.me cloud infrastructure for storage, synchronization, and backups.
- Distribution platforms such as Google Play and Apple’s App Store, which have their own terms and privacy rules.
Your use of features provided by app stores is governed by those platforms’ terms and policies. We do not control and are not responsible for third‑party services.
7. Plans, Payments, and In‑App Purchases
7.1. Free use
- You can download and use a basic version of Rationalize Life free of charge with limited functionality, as described in the store listings.
7.2. Pro subscription (with sync)
- We offer auto‑renewable subscriptions (for example, monthly or yearly) that unlock all Pro features, including access to the rationalize.me cloud sync service, for the duration of the subscription.
- Subscriptions are billed through Google Play or Apple’s App Store according to the price and currency shown in the store at the time of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your platform account settings.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your Google Play or Apple ID account. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current period; prorated refunds are not provided unless required by applicable law.
7.3. Offline Pro (lifetime license)
- We offer a separate one‑time "offline Pro" purchase that unlocks lifetime access to all offline app features on the platform where you purchased it.
- The offline Pro license does not by itself include cross‑device cloud sync. Cloud sync is an optional, separately billed service.
7.4. Cloud sync as an optional service
- Cloud synchronization via rationalize.me is an optional paid service typically available as a recurring subscription (for example, monthly or yearly) that can be combined with the offline Pro license.
- If you have offline Pro but do not have an active sync subscription, all Pro features remain available locally, but your data will not sync between devices.
- We may offer free trial periods for cloud sync. If you do not cancel before the end of a trial, the subscription may start automatically and be billed according to the selected plan.
7.5. Price changes
- We may change prices for subscriptions or paid offerings in the future. Changes will apply in accordance with Google’s and Apple’s rules.
- Where required, you will receive notice and have the opportunity to review the new price before renewal. If you do not agree to a price change, cancel before the new price takes effect.
7.6. Refunds
- Purchases and subscriptions are generally final and non‑refundable, except where platform rules or applicable law grant you a right to a refund.
- Refund requests must typically be made through the relevant store (Google Play or App Store), which decides whether a refund is granted.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service (excluding User Content) – including its design, branding, user interface, text, graphics, and software – is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
We grant you a personal, limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to install and use Rationalize Life on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and applicable store rules. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from any part of the Service, except where permitted by law.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error‑free, or that data will never be lost or corrupted.
Where your local law, including EU consumer law, requires specific warranties or remedies, those statutory rights remain unaffected.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent allowed by applicable law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, or data arising from or related to your use of the Service.
- Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service in any 12‑month period will not exceed the amount you have paid us for the Service during that period (if any), or 10 EUR, whichever is higher.
Some jurisdictions, including many in the EU, do not allow certain limitations of liability; in such cases, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your misuse of the Service,
- Your violation of these Terms, or
- Your violation of any third‑party rights.
12. Changes to the Service
We may modify, update, or discontinue parts of the Service from time to time, for example to add features, fix bugs, or comply with legal or platform requirements. Where changes materially affect your rights or access, we will provide appropriate notice where required by law or platform rules.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our Service or legal obligations. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where required (for example under EU law), notify you in the app or by other appropriate means and ask for your acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
Unless mandatory local law provides otherwise (for example, for EU/EEA consumers), these Terms are governed by the laws of the country where the developer is established. Any disputes shall be subject to the non‑exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that country, without affecting your rights to bring claims under consumer protection laws in your country of residence.
